This is a really nice dead-blow hammer. I got it for a deconstruction project I'm doing to try and not damage as much of the wood as possible as I take the structure down. So far it's been working great. I do wish the striking surfaces were screw-on to permit the substitution of a plastic striker for 'gentle'work but otherwise I've got no complaints.
Before I got this I had two choices for a dead blow: A rubber mallet or a 5 lb small sledge hamme...

Before I got this I had two choices for a dead blow: A rubber mallet or a 5 lb small sledge hammer. This gives me the option for the smaller piece I work with where I don't want to use a hammer, but need something with a bit more oomph to it.The also have a better grip in the hand than most of the other dead blows and most of my hammers. The bright orange also helps it stand our while in use.

The Capri Tools 36 oz. Dead Blow Ball Peen Hammer gives me the hitting power of my rubber dead blow hammer, but with dual ball peen round\flat steel headed durability! The hammer is well built and delivers hard blows with little to no rebounding while maintaining better hand control. The all durable polyurethane construction fits well in my hand and dampens any hammer shock for solid control and handling.
